caption In girdle view C. asteromphalus is disc shaped with slightly convex valves. The valve contains numerous large chloroplasts. In valve view a central rosette of larger areolae is visible. The areolae form distinct decussating arcs. No hyaline lines are present. Two large labiate processes are present approximately 120-135 degrees apart
