Monadoid cell spherical to slightly ovoid (length 2.8-5 µm) with the two lateral flagella arising from the anterior part of the cell, one 8.6-21.3 µm long, the other rarely more than 1 µm long. Body and flagella covered with flat, approximately circular scales.
