caption
2006 Hyalolithus neolepis Yoshida et al. Prymnesiophyte with at least two forms. Cells nonmotile, spherical to subspherical, (length 8-12 µm), with two yellowish chloroplasts, each with an immersed pyrenoid, with two short flagella (1.5 µm at longest),a non-coiling haptonema (12-18 µm) and a periplast covered with two different types of scales, the outer layer consisting of hat-shaped siliceous scales, oval to irregularly ellipsoidal in top view, the inner layer of organic scales. Motile phase cell subspherical to pear-shaped, with two yellowish chloroplasts, two equal flagella (15-25 µm), a non-coiling haptonema (12-18 µm) and a periplast covered with short spine scales.
