caption This small (cells: 4-9.5um) chlorophyte, is usually rare in the plankton of Lake Kinneret, but formed significant blooms exceeding 1000 cells/mL in winter 1997 and again in winter 2000. The cells are triangular with one rounded side and organized in fours so that each coenobium of 4 triangles forms a round-edged square, often forming colonies of (syncoenobia) of 16 cells or more, as in this photo
