Unknown cells of about 10-20μm size range, reccurently observed in the open Nordic Seas, the Bartens Sea and in the West Spitsbergen fjords. Some cells have a flagellum, while others do not have it, probably due to rejecting flagellum during fixation. The similar indeterminate specimen is illustrated in the book of Berard-Therriault et al. (1999) as Chrysophyceae sp. 1. The attached photograph was taken during the analysis of water sample collected in Isfjorden (West Spitsbergen) in summer 2018.
